My youngest brother, Caleb, is also an aspiring author. At only age five (though he’ll soon be six), he is already writing stories of his own. Today, I will share some fiction by Caleb.
One of his favorite picture books to read is the Poppleton series by Cynthia Rylant. Without any prompting, he decided to sit down and write his own Poppleton story. When he finished, he requested that I publish it on my blog.
So here is some fiction written by Caleb! I hope you all enjoy it! Please leave comments for Caleb, as I’m sure he would love to get some encouragement from others. 🙂
Poppleton’s New House
Written and Illustrated by Caleb Batie
One day Poppleton went to a motel. He loved it so much. He wanted to stay there forever. But he couldn’t because he didn’t have a house and he needed to have a house.
So a couple days later he got a house. It was winter. He had a lot of snow. It was nice. He loved it so much. It was the happiest day of all.
THE END
Here is the original, handwritten manuscript that Caleb wrote. He wrote the first half on a chalkboard, then, when he ran out of room he wrote the second half on paper.
