September Review + October Goals

I’ve decided that I will start sharing a monthly post here on the blog describing my different updates and news. I’ve noticed some other bloggers doing this, and I thought it might be kind of cool.

In each of these monthly posts, I will start with how well I followed my writing goals last month, and then I will describe my goals for the coming month. After that, I will share announcements and fun stuff for you readers that I’m sure you won’t want to miss.

So now let’s get started!

September Review

Goals

This month I actually didn’t have any written down goals, (I know, I’m such an organized person), but I did have some goals in my head of what I wanted to finish before the end of the month.

First of all, I was hoping to finish the content edit this month. Well, I didn’t quite get there this time; rewriting a few end chapters proved more difficult than I thought.

However, I had another goal this month posting on the blog twice per week. And I succeeded there! Yay!

Reading

I didn’t read a ton this month besides beta-reading. However, Grace A. Johnson was kind enough to share her novel, Held Captive, with me, and so I read that. You can read my review of that book here.

Other than that, I didn’t actually read anything else! Well, I’ll try to read more next month.

Blogging

This month was a really good month for the blog! I published eight posts, which is pretty good for me! Here are the most recent ones:

Two interviews this month! Pretty good.

October Goals

This month’s goals are pretty basic. Most of what I need to do is related to Identity. I hope to finish the last little bit of the content edit this month and start doing line edits right after. I also want to get my Goodreads Author Account set up, as well as familiarize myself better with the Amazon KDP system since this is my first time self-publishing.

As far as reading goes, I want to read one book per week. I have a 200-book-long TBR list that should provide me with enough books to do that, as long as I can find them at the library.

My last goal is one you can all help with: to get at least ten pre-orders on Identity. Right now I only have three pre-orders; one of them is my dad, one is my best friend, and the other is some unknown angel of kindness. (If you are reading this post now, you have pre-ordered Identity, and you aren’t my best friend or my dad, then please leave a comment below telling me that you ordered it. It means the world to me.) So that means I need seven more pre-orders to reach my goal. If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, you can still do so. It also helps a ton if you spread the word about Identity so others can pre-order it too.

Announcements

Well, my first announcement for this month is that I will no longer be sending out my monthly newsletter. Since not many people read it and there wasn’t a ton of demand, I’ve decided that it’s not worth the time to continue it. And since I will now be doing these monthly update posts, I didn’t feel like a newsletter was necessary on top of that.

You also may have seen that I have been posting on the blog not once per week, but twice! Yes, now I have a new schedule: posts on both Mondays and Fridays.

Also, I will be hosting a Q&A on the topic of editing! This is my first Q&A on the blog, and I’m super excited about it. Basically, here’s how that’ll work: all of you guys will submit your editing questions through this form, and then I will write a post answering all of those questions. The deadline to submit your questions is in about two weeks, September 22, so make sure you ask all your questions before then. And in case you didn’t catch this earlier; the topic of the Q&A is editing. That can mean self-editing, editing for other people, editing as a business… whatever you want.

If you didn’t see it earlier, HERE IS THE LINK TO THE FORM.

My third and final announcement is that I now accept book review requests! So if you have written a book that you would like me to review (or you have a favorite book you’ve read that you would like me to review), then please feel free to drop a request in my Contact Form. Just title the subject “Review Request” and then type the title of the book and the name of the author in the message.

Wrapping-Up

From marketing to editing to blogging… I have a lot of goals to accomplish this month and a lot of things to do! Just wait till the end of November, when you all will get to see how well I actually do on these goals.

What are your goals for this month? Are you planning on submitting questions for my editing Q&A? Are you excited for Identity? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Oh, that’s really strange! While I’m working on fixing that, you can always send me the questions through my Contact Form, or just reply to this comment with your questions. I’m really sorry about that!
